Global Warming Speech

Humans, animals, and plant life are all in grave danger because of global warming. The three things I will talk about today is how global warming is melting
the polar ice capes. The greenhouse effect and how it's effecting the earth. The last thing I will talk about is how the earth is heating up. That is what I will be
talking about today.
Global warming is melting the polar ice capes. It's melting them because global warming is allowing gases like carbon dioxide and methane in. This is
allowing sun light to reach the earth ( topic.nytimes.com ). This is warming up the earth. Global warming is reducing the amount of pack ice in the Arctic, which
polar bears and other Canadian wildlife depend on for survival. Scientist found out that we are heating up the earth which is melting the polar ice capes.
Next I will talk about to all of you about the greenhouse effect. " The cause of the recent warming are on active Field of research. The scientific
consensus is that the in crease in atmospheric greenhouse gases due to human activity"( wikipeadia.com ). The greenhouse effect has a good thing to it because
without it the earth would never have warmed enough to allow life to form. The greenhouse effect has been a part of the earth working process since it's
earliest days. " The greenhouse effect changes when human activity increases the atmospheric concentration of particular greenhouse gases." ( wikipeadia.com ).
Human activity since the industrial revolution has increased the atmospheric of greenhouse gases. " Leading to increased radiative forcing from carbon
dioxide, methane, troposphere ozone, CFCs, and nitrous oxide. The atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and methane have increased by 36% and 148%
respectively since the beginning of the mid-1700s" ( wikipeadia.com ). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC ) concludes that most of the
temperature increase since the mid-twentieth century is " very likely " due to the in crease in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. Large amounts of
carbon dioxide have been released along with the development of industrial economies.
" Since 1970 the temperature has gone up to about three times the normal for the 20th century. Global climate is likely to rise between 3.5 and 8
degrees" ( topic.nytimes.com ). By 2100 the sea level are likely to rise between 7 to 23 inches because of global warming. " Global warming is the increase in
the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid- 20th century and its projected continuation" (wikipeadia.com ).
Today I talked about the polar ice capes melting. The greenhouse effect, and how it is warming the earth by gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and other
gases. Then I talked about how much the temperature has gone up three times from 1970, and how the sea level is rising. There is a hope to stop global warming.
Each of us can make smart decisions the will reduce global warming. For more information go to www.sierraclub.org to see how the sierra club is making a
difference and making a cleaner earth.
